Smashbox Lipstick Favourites

I’ve recently been on the hunt for bold lipsticks to bring me out of my pale pink for day/red for night colour rut. My boyfriend bought me Chanel’s Rouge Allure 104 Passion intense longwear red lipstick last Christmas and it became my staple colour for the evening. I love red lippy but sometimes its a little too vampy for the day, so on a recent trip to Boots I decided to browse the make up counters for wearable colours with impact!

My local store has a new Smashbox counter and, yet to try the brand, I decided to give it a go. I purchased their Be Legendary Electric Pink Matte Lipstick; it’s a gorgeous hot pink without any scary neon tones. Priced at RRP £15.50 it’s in a similar price range to MAC lipsticks. I fell in love with this lipstick not just for the colour but its ability to stay on my lips all day! This really is the best lipstick I’ve ever had for its longwear capabilities. I road tested it through dinners, drinks, a night out and a day in the office and it didn’t fail once.

Needless to say I headed back to Boots the following week to purchase two new colours. I’ve been lusting over plum coloured lips for ages and picked up Fig; this gorgeous colour is top of my winter make up essentials list and looks great with paler skin tones. Unlike some of the more intense shades of plum, Fig is a wearable colour that has more red tones than purples which can sometimes be unflattering. I also purchased Smashbox’s Melondrama – a peachy orange lipstick that’s going to last me through the summer months too.

Neither of these colours have the staying power of the matte lippys but with added shea butter they glide on easily and make your lips feel super soft. I’m looking forward to start experimenting with more of the Smashbox range! Do you have any recommendations?
