Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions: The verdict

Clinique Anti Blemish solutionsClinique Anti-Blemish All-Over Clearing Treatment RRP £18.50 | Clarifying Lotion RRP £17 | Cleansing Foam RRP £15.50

My skin has had the mood swings of an adolescent boy over the past couple of months, it can’t work out whether it’s dry or oily and I’ve been breaking out in spots where usually I have clear skin. When one heals another rears its ugly head and it has been driving me bonkers. I’ve never had bad skin, apart from the odd pimple as a teenager, and for the life of me I can’t work out why my former good skin has gone awol on me. I will admit I’m one for scrutinising every pore and imperfection in the mirror every evening, and I’m a picker – I know, the first rule of beauty is not to pick your spots! It’s a bad habit and I’m trying really hard to keep my hands off my face because I know I make things so much worse. I’ve changed my foundation and concealer to lighter ones which have seen a little improvement but it got to the point just over 6 weeks ago when I decided to call in the big boys…

I saw an advert on TV for Clinique’s new Anti-Blemish range of products for spot-prone skin and on a recent trip abroad decided to purchase their 3-step system from Duty Free. I have used Clinque’s Dramatically Different Moisturiser for years and had recently run out; noticing my pores enlarge without it I thought that this new line of products would do the trick and bring my skin back to its former, peaceful self.

After one week I definitely noticed a difference in my skin. First to go were the blackheads and small pimples, which were slowly brought out over the course of two weeks (not in the way a deep face mask does but calmly and without redness). I knew then that the products were working. It took a couple more weeks for my skin to completely clear and it is now smoother than it has been for a very long time. I did have a ‘relapse’ a couple of weeks ago down to bad eating and stress but with the anti-blemish solutions at hand the problem was quickly resolved.

Clinque Anti Blemish CleanserThe gentle, cleansing bubbles of the foam

You are instructed to use the 3-step system both morning and night, cleansing foam first, followed by the clarifying lotion (liquid toner) and clearing treatment to finish – it’s a cross between a cream and a gel. All the products apply beautifully and the cleanser is so kind to the skin leaving it super soft. I’d never used a toner in the morning but found it did cleanse my skin thoroughly for the day ahead. Last week I decided to use it only at night as I felt it was drying out my skin a little – I’d definitely recommend using it as instructed though for a good 6 weeks. The clearing treatment also leaves your skin feeling protected for the day and dries like a gel without any oiliness (no oil in these products!).

There are so many factors as to why skin can become irritated and spotty – hormones, bad eating and allergies to name a few. But with Clinique’s Anti-Blemish Solutions I now know where to turn to when I’m going through a rough patch. The foaming cleanser however is one I’m going to keep using whether me skin is happy or sad as I just love it. Have you used this range of skincare? If so let me know how you got on. Clinique also has a mask and a cleansing bar in their Anti-Blemish collection,  if you’ve tried them comment in the box below with your thoughts.

  1. I’ve used this range before when I was in high school but it didn’t seem to suit my skin so well 😦 I usually get on with Clinique products, but this range seemed to irritate my skin for some reason. Maybe it was a bit too drying? I’m glad it’s working out for you though! It’s always amazing when you find the perfect products 😀

    • That’s a shame. If you have very sensitive skin the clarifying lotion can be a little harsh so maybe skip this step. Dryness occurs with sensitivity so always best to opt for products that are specifically for your skin type. Hope you find an alternative! Sarah

  2. Spots seriously suck, generally I find the more you play with them the worse they get. When I get them I go into overdrive trying different things and generally I make them loads worse. Clinique cleanser and toners are brilliant so I glad to hear that there anti blemish wash works a treat Lucy x

  3. I’ve used the clinique daily exfoliators and 7-day cleansers but i’ve never tried their 3-step products as i’ve never known if they have been worth it! I do have quite spot prone skin though, and it’s great to hear that this has helped you! They are quite expensive but I will be going away soon so this is definitely one to get in the duty free! Thanks for putting up the review! 🙂 x
