This is something a bit different to my usual blog posts but I fancied mixing it up a little! I’d like to do more of these quick show-and-tells to break the cycle of my standard blogging as there’s so many things I’d like to share with you. It could be a new purchase I’m excited about, something I’ve baked, a new hairstyle I’ve learnt or maybe somewhere I’ve visited. Today I want to show you some albums I bought last week!
The first thing I want to get clear is that I know nothing at all about music! I just listen to what I like and my knowledge goes as far as what’s in the charts. Growing up listening to the Spice Girls and Britney Spears has given me a love of pop music but I’m also a fan of folk, musicals and film soundtracks. Such an eclectic taste I know… I’m so Rock’n’roll.
I drive a 10 year old VW Golf which only takes CDs and cassettes – yes cassette tapes! So unless I want to relive my childhood and play Boyzone or Ricky Martin then I need to stock up on CDs. Nearly all my music is on my iPod and I was getting really bored of the few CDs I had in my car so did a bit of online music shopping last week!
Now I know I’m really late off the mark with these albums but like I said, I’m no music guru. I love Jessie J’s debut album ‘Who You Are’ and know every lyric so was excited to buy her second studio album ‘Alive’. Beyonce’s self-named album was released way back in December and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to buy it! I started listening to it yesterday and it includes a really raunchy set of tracks – I almost feel like a kid secretly listening to music I know I’m not allowed to! There’s some great RnB on the album so I’m going to enjoy getting familiar with the tracks (no pun intended).
I’ve been a fan of Radio 1’s ‘Live Lounge’ albums for a long time but hadn’t got round to purchasing the most recent release. I haven’t listened to this CD yet but some of my favourite tunes are stripped back and acoustic so I’m pretty excited! I listen to Radio 1 a lot and have fallen in love with band-of-the-moment Bastille so I had to buy ‘Bad Blood’, and what would be a music haul without purchasing One Directions’s ‘Midnight Memories’?
