The new beauty buzz: Bee venom!

Manuka Dr Lip Enhancer
Manuka Lip Enhancer
When I first heard about Manuka Doctor Lip Enhancer I’d be lying if I wasn’t a bit sceptical about it. My experience of lip enhancers include ultra glossy, sticky products with a peppermint tingle – all look and feel but producing no real change to my lip volume. Don’t be deceived into thinking that this tube of enhancer is like all the rest! First up it is not a lip gloss – which was a surprise when I first squeezed the product from the bottle! Inside the tube is a thin, oily liquid which should be used as the first step in your makeup routine. The packaging states to give it 5 minutes to work its magic, so apply at the same time as your morning moisturiser.

After a few seconds you will start to feel the tingle – if I’m completely honest it did sting a little but the feeling didn’t last for long. This ‘sting’ may be due to the fact that this lip enhancer includes purified bee venom, but don’t fret, bee venom is a new wonder ingredient and you can trust a brand like Manuka Doctor to not put anything harmful into their products! They were the first company to bring this technology to the high street but celebs have been a fan for years. Bee Venom has been proven to encourage naturally occurring cell regeneration and boost collagen formation for peachy perfect skin! You can find out more about it here.

After a few minutes, I noticed the natural colour of my lips had developed and become more vibrant (the kind of colour I wish they always were!), and after the 5 minutes were up, there was definitely a change in volume. My lips had become plumper and fuller and some of the fine lines had disappeared. No botox here, just honest natural products! Once the transformation is complete, you can then apply  lipstick or a gloss or just leave your lips naturally rosy and plumped like I did in the picture above.

Manuka Doctor’s Lip Enhancer is part of the ApiRefine range which includes CC cream, radiance serum, primer, wrinkle filler and eye cream, all with added bee venom! I would definitely try these if you are experiencing the first signs of ageing, plus there’s currently a 35% off promotion on the Manuka Doctor website. For those with spot-prone skin, then the ApiClear range is for you, and for all-round everyday skincare, try the ApiNourish range.

If bee venom is good enough for Victoria Beckham, Kylie Minogue and Kate Middleton, then it’s good enough for me and I love the fact I can use this lip enhancer to create a dramatic look with lipstick or opt for naked, au natural, beautiful lips! If you have particularly thin lips then this product is an absolute must!
