This post has come a little late because we actually decorated our living room for christmas on the 30th November so we could enjoy a whole December of that magical Christmas feeling – it can’t come early enough for me! I love coming home from work, turning on the fairy lights, lighting the candles and settling down for a snug night in.

We went for a 6ft tree this year which was a bit ambitious for our little living room but it certainly makes a festive statement! We bought most of our decorations new last year as it was our first Christmas in our house but I had to pick up a few new ones to fill our enormous tree… (any excuse to go decoration shopping).

The cushions were packed up to be replaced by our stag and pheasant cushions and the reindeer hide my parents bought me from their holiday in Lapland, Finland gets lovingly draped over the back of our armchair.

This year K and I are making each other stockings and he bought a couple from Home Sense to hang either side of our fireplace. We opened the fireplace up when we moved in and it’s filled with candles which we light almost every night – they’re a great alternative to a log fire, however we have plans to install a log burner in the future. With so many candles in the room – in the fireplace, in our large floor lantern and all the tea lights dotted around the room – the living room heats up nice and toasty!
