Lipsy Michelle Keegan Textured Bardot Dress £58 | Reece Witherspoon wearing Tom Ford
How to dress like the stars without the Hollywood salary
Every year the stars get their pick of designer dresses to wear to the Oscars, courtesy of stylists hooking them up with complimentary gowns that us common folk would have to pay for (if we could afford to) – it’s just so unfair. Let’s be honest, not many of us have the bank account of a Hollywood A-lister or a huge team of makeup and hair professionals transforming us into screen goddesses. But hey, we don’t have many red carpets to walk down or millions of people around the globe eagerly waiting to see what designer dress we wear.
I’ve scoured the web to find affordable high street dupes of some of the best loved dresses at the 2015 Oscars. You don’t have to be Rosamund Pike or Reece Witherspoon, or wear Givenchy or Tom Ford, to look red carpet ready. And who needs a hair stylist or makeup artist when you can turn to YouTube for tutorials?! Whether you’re looking for a prom dress or a wedding outfit, here are some look-a-like Oscar dresses that won’t break the bank.
Coast Fernanda Maxi Dress £175 | Anna Kendrick wearing Thakoon
Coast Zuzanna Maxi Dress £175 | Zoe Salanda wearing Atelier Versace
Coast Sophia Maxi Dress £295 | Anna Faris wearing Zuhair Murad
MissGuided Ralona Red Lace Maxi Dress £45 | Rosumund Pike wearing Givenchy
What were your favourite dresses from this year’s Oscars? I think mine has got to be Reece Witherspoon’s monochrome Tom Ford gown, it’s just so elegant and timeless, but I’d also be happy wearing Lipsy’s Bardot Dress from the Michelle Keegan range too! Maybe a bit more wearable for a Saturday night out!
